Senior Stud Stock Herdsperson

Overview

Gilmandyke Pastoral is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Stud Stock Herdsperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cattle management, breeding programs, and farm maintenance. This role is critical to the successful operation of our stud cattle herd and involves various responsibilities, including breeding and calving management, stock rotations, farm upkeep, and preparation for our annual sale.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in cattle breeding and herd management, ideally within a stud operation.
• Strong understanding of cattle health, nutrition, and welfare.
• Proven skills in farm maintenance and equipment management.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with effective communication and organisational skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of animal care.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays as required.

Desirable Attributes

• Relevant qualifications in agriculture, animal science, or related fields.
• Experience in a senior or leadership role within a cattle operation.
• Familiarity with farm management software and record-keeping systems.
